Close shave
Used many different blades but always find these to be the best for my sensitive skin. I have a fairly course beard and find that I can have 3 close comfortable shaves with each blade (3 passes).
Konsistency is king
I use a feather handle and used to use feather blades. Perfectly fine combo. However, I found that the very sharp feather blade was mildly aggressive on the first shave, and dulled quickly with my thick hairs. All relative of course, still decent.
I tried a few different blades, splitting hairs frankly (pun intended!), but I settled on these Astras. They are not quite as sharp as the feathers but they are in the same league. I found the first shave to be smoother, and subsequent shaves to be more consistent. Overall the Astras appear to have a harder edge on them which dulls slower.
No point swapping loads though. Pick a handle and blade combo that works for you and stick at it. Learn the technique that the handle and blade requires and get into a routine. That in itself will yield better results than any hardware swap.
It's almost pointless reviewing blades as it is very much personal preference and what may work for some may not work for others. However, these are my personal favourites. Have tried a lot of other blades including Feathers etc but these just suited my face best. I'd say I have normal to fine facial hair and these always provide a smooth, comfortable shave. Worth a try if you still haven't found 'your' blade.
Fantastic blades both sharp and long lasting. Most blades I get 2 shaves from and some I only get 1 but these I get 3 incredibly close shaves with no cuts or redness. Can feel slightly more aggressive when a new blade is put on but nothing too bad. Think these may be my go to blade from now on

These blades are fantastic, very sharp and not 1 cut after a few shaves. Also they do last well I recently tried another blade on par with sharpness and price but only got 1 good 3 pass shave per blade. These are not only slightly cheaper but I get 3 good shaves per blade. Also it's a much closer shave then any blade I've tried so far. Still not tried feather blades but working up to them
Awful blades, cut my face to ribbons every time I've used them - will be chucking half the pack and the full 2nd pack I bought in the bin. Thank god for my alum block and styptic pencil!
Having tried more than a dozen different brands/makes of blades over the last couple of years, I have to say these are my favourites, along with Shark - the latter are milder, the Astras are great for removing a few day's growth with no fuss, dragging or cuts.
These are my close second choice blade to Asco, and like Asco blades I rarely receive any cuts and the shave is sharp and clean.
Bought these on the back of all the rave reviews but after 2 blades n 2shaves with merkur 34 HD feel like there off the back of a Russian sub and been used by half the sailors see Anne Marie comment may have to stick with feather in future all in all very disappointed !!!!! Great company though not sure about minimum spend 5.00 when blades are 3.50 strange .

My wife bought me some this Christmas to go with my merkur razor that I've had for some time now. I have to say that these blades performed way above my expectations. They are incredibly sharp and have given me the closest shave I have ever had. Top draw piece of shaving kit. Will definitely buy these again.

Out of over a dozen different blades I have tried I find these the best, super sharp and last well, good close shave and no irritation used with sandalwood shave soap.
I got a mixture of 5 different makes of blades when I purchased my first safety razor last month. I was advised that the Astras were the sharpest of the blades I was supplied. So after a few weeks of practising my technique I finally plucked up the courage to give them ago. I have to say they were fantastic. I got a very smooth shave with no razor burn and only a couple of nicks (more due to my poor technique). I feel with a little more practice these will become my number one blade of choice although I will be giving the Feather Blades a crack first but these will take some beating. Top class service and excellent advice in store too.
Tried loads of blades now, these for me and my thick harsh stubble are by far the best used with sandalwood shave soap.
I found exactly the same as Annemarie - they were my go to blade but the most recent ones that I bought are different, something has changed and they are nowhere near as good as they used to be. :-(
Superb! I was a big fan of the normal Astra's but these are in a different league. They give the smoothest shave, better then any other blade I've used. Great service too.

Was disappointed , I have been using astra blades now as my go to blade for over 12 months now,but the recent Bach I have just received had slightly different packaging . The envelope that wraps the blade was plain instead of the usual astra logo and the blades themselves looked the same but shaved completely different to all other astra blades I've used before. Same prep same cream same brush very rough shave.
Better than the Derby blades
I have been gradually working through different blades and I absolutely love these Astra super platinum.
They give me a good smooth shave in an Open or closed comb Razor.
Shall be definitely buying more of this make.

Bought these to experiment and found them to be akin to shaving with a blunt axe! Didn't suit My thick heavy growth with sensitive skin.

These Astra Superior Platinum blades last about a week each edge and provide a good shave. Also, if I remember correctly, they have writing on them that makes it easy to tell which edge is which when they are in the razor.
Better than the Derby blades that came with the razor but yet to try other brands . Good quality, good shave, good price.

I used these after having used the Derby blades. If you call Derby blades suitable for first time DE shavers, this a good one to step up to. A little sharper but still very forgiving. Again, recommended for beginners.

Similar to the Derby Extra blades but much better quality. Excellent shave all around and no too sharp, perhaps slightly sharper than a Derby. Very high quality, wrapped in two sheets of wax paper to prevent corrosion. Good for beginners and pros alike. Bought a few of them, at the moment my favourites but I ve only started shaving recently. (bought 100 derby blades off the bat, so no doubt it will take me a while to get through them before trying others!). However definitely my new go to blade. Highly recommended.
