About Shaving Cream
Shaving cream is one of the most important requirements for a smooth and comfortable shave. Forget about using gels and foams that come in tubs and cans, they contain harsh chemicals and provide little assistance in softening the beard hairs or protecting the skin during shaving. Improve your shave today by using a traditional shaving cream with a shaving brush. The shaving brush combines with the shaving cream and water to produce a wonderfully rich, moisturising lather that helps to protect and lubricate the skin during shaving. The brush bristles lift and work the lather around each and every beard hair and the shaving cream softens the beard for easier cutting and a closer shave.
The UK still produces some of the finest quality shaving creams in the world and we stock all of the top brands including Taylor of Old Bond Street, Truefitt & Hill, Castle Forbes, Penhaligon’s, Geo F Trumpers, Floris of London and more. We also stock some of the more popular international brands such as Proraso, Musgo Real and eShave. All of the shaving creams that we stock are excellent quality and designed to work with a shaving brush. As well as providing a better shave, a traditional shaving cream also offers a better shaving experience thanks to the wonderful range of fragrances available. The most popular fragrances are Sandalwood based, followed closely by lime scents but with such a large choice available there is always something new to try.
Although the price of a shaving cream might seem expensive compared to the gels and foams available elsewhere, you will find that only a tiny amount of product is needed for each shave. Tubs of shaving cream will last many months, usually 3 – 6 months depending on how frequently you shave. Traditional shaving creams can be used without a shaving brush but they will not be as effective and the products will not last as long.
Shaving creams can be lathered in a bowl, in a mug or directly on your face before shaving and they are very easy to use. You can find detailed instructions on how to use shaving cream in our Ultimate Guide to Shave Cream.
