Merkur Takes The Gold

I bought one of these, and given some reviews by Americans, who spoke of blood loss, and such like, I was beginning to wonder if I’d done the right thing!
Anyway the Merkur futur arrived, and I had a few practise runs, of taking the top, what fantastic simplicity. Anyway I loaded it up with a Derby Extra blade, set it on two, lathered up with Kent shaving foam, and thereafter proceeded to shave with this precision German instrument. Three days of strong beard growth mowed down into a smooth sac Babis arse finish. Forget Fatboy, variants, slims, Ts, feathers, and the bs, this razor is all you will ever need. No wonder it’s the most cloned adjustable razor, in shaving history.
So the Merkur Futur takes the gold for me, and that’s from nearly a half century of de shaving.

Try as you may , this is a Superior shaving machine that I'm not letting go of ,I think my wife is jealous for the love and passion i have for this new lady that shaves me so well . She must understand its all for her .

In the past when people spoke of a high class product, particularly in relation to British Standard (which has declined rapidly due to increased regulations, cost increases, unionists and Environmental Loonatics who insist on using cheap and lightweight materials), they were refering to items that were well engineered with the finest materials. In fact when you merely held this item in your hand you immediately knew that the cost was going to be greater than similar more mainstream products, due to the high quality finish. In this particular case, this German manufactured Razor, is absolutely perfect and represents a standard that other more mainstream blade manufacturers should be striving towards achieving. Razor is very heavy, however the weight adds a comfort factor whilst shaving. The blade insertion is not a screw head system as the item description describes, but rather a very crafty clip on lid, which is removed so that the blade can be inserted. This Razor provides the closest shave possible and lets the user adjust the exposure of the blade from 6 levels by turning the blade handle, which in itseld is a very smooth process. I would go as far as saying that at its highest exposure level of 6, the shave quality is just as good, if not better than a straight razor. Just looking as the product alone from different angles shows the amount of attention to detail and strenuous efffort that has gone in to create such an engineering materpiece. I would recommend this product for the discerning gentleman who pays great attention to his grooming methods and appearance, but does not consider money an obstacle when purchasing a high class product such as this.

early days yet but initial signs are promising. The gold version looks beautiful. The blade clips in nicely and is nice and even. Currently shaving on a 2 setting which is close enough at the moment. So far absolutely no complaints and comes highly recommended.

I have used previously EJ D89l but wants something special for christmas myself. After a lot of search I ordered this . I am glad that I make good dicision. It shaves very nice. There are lots of hype about this razor that it is very agressive but I did shave on 1 1/2 adjustment and its absolutely spot on. I never enjoyed my shave ever before. I have very senstive skin and hard beared. I used merkur blade in it. Best razor I ever had.

Great razor, well plated and easy to handle. A looker! It took only two days for my order to arrive. Communication with the Traditional Shaving Company was pleasant as replies were helpful and sent promptly.

Used a Merkur travel razor for many years and was happy with it . . . but then bought the Futur and it is dramatically better. No need to press on as the weight just glides over your stubble. Futur has adjustable blade from 1-6 with 1 being safest - I would say that my old Merkur travel equates roughly to a 2 - have had the Futur upto 4 and it gives a noticably closer and easier shave - not tried 5 or 6 yet! It is a bit clumsy to use around the nose area at first but all that is needed is a bit more care and you won't nick yourself. Totally recommended

Merkur Futur well i have a two Edwin Jagger de razors the 89l and the chatsworth both chrome , the E.J. rocks it shaves like nothing I've use before till now and because they shaved me better than i could have believed possible i deiced to look for a real special de razor to match the quality of my dovo straight razor, so wanted something by Merkur and this girl has all the looks of a cover girl, and glides down your face like a real lady.
I use it straight out the box with 4 days growth turning it straight to 2 on the setting and with the blade supplied. I did a three pass shave but the 3rd pass was not really necessary. now i can tell ya its a hot looking well made razor and the build and gold plating are spot on its easy to use and nice to hold not slippy at all. Its faultless.

A good quality razor just wish it had a butterfly opening system.

Wow! First DE razor, so glad i chose this and paid a little extra. Not a single cut or nick yet. Smooth close shave. Can t fault the razor. absolute pleasure to use. Comes in a Merkur cardboard box with a single blade enclosed. Merkur platinum blade was a great shave! Would be nice if there was some care/maintenance instructions with it though.

Simply brilliant razor I love the feel and weight of this wonderful product, I urge you to try for yourself, you won t regret it!

I bought this for my husband - he loves it! He reckons he s never had such a close shave. I reckon his face is the softest it s ever been! He hasn t yet tried the varying levels of closeness, but as he sometimes wears a beard I m sure this will come in handy! Beautiful to look at and lovely to hold. I like the look of it in the bathroom too!
