Got this as the reviews mentioned it would work well for a sensitive skin/heavy beard combo. It's ... meh. A bit too safety, not enough razor. The search continues.

Excellent

Bought this after buying other razors even a well known brand which can be brought from many other shops. I had tried different blades in the other razors and could not get a close shave. So after much research on the website I came across this razor after reading all the reviews a few saying it is good for sensitive skin and heavy beard. I bought one and I must say it did not disappoint me from the first shave I got a very close shave with the blade supplied and no razor burn like I did with other razors and blades. After a week of shaving I have found the razor for me the only thing I could do with is slightly longer but I am getting use to it now so all is good highly recommended.

Awesome and smooth razor with nice heft

Arrived in less than 2 weeks after ordering.

This is a fantastic razor that is able to provide a drama free shave that's as close as it could get. Loaded with a fresh Astra SP blade I was able to get a closer shave than my adjustable with significantly less effort.

Allow me to debunk some myths:

1) The finishing on my 37C is flawlessly as good as EJ and Muhle. I can't speak for other Merkur razors but this one is nice and shiny.
2) This is not an aggressive razor. It's just way more efficient.
3) It's not light and cheap feeling. It's got a nice weight and heft to it.
4) I'm confident it can be used as a daily driver.

I hope I can pick up the bigger brother 39C soon.

Review

Purchased the 37C Slant to try something new. The 34C I normally use is an excellent shave and until today been the top of my rotation list of razors.

Have seen other reviews of this razor and it's aggressive nature. For me that word is overused in the shaving world. Most of the time it's an excuse for poor shaving prep and technique.

With my face properly prepped and a fresh blade, I found the Slant no harder to use than the 34C and it was in fact smoother and closer with only two passes needed and one touch up pass around my tricky chin area. No nicks at all, which I find the 34C can do especially under the nose.

Using the Alum Bloc afterwards, I found there was very little stinging, which shows virtually no irritation from the shave itself.

The only thing I would probably change to my routine would be to use a cream instead of the soap to add that extra something to the glide of the razor.

So in conclusion, if you are an experienced DE shaver then don't hesitate to purchase one and ignore the rubbish about aggressiveness and being ultra careful with it as it's a damn fine razor.

I cannot say enough good things about this razor. The first time I used it I was scared, but by the end of the first shave I was in love with it and has since then been my #1 razor of choice!

An excellent safety razor that has become my daily use razor, I've found the perfect partnership with this and a wilkinson sword blade. This leaves me with a baby smooth face and no cuts or irritation as long as the razor is used properly. Make sure that you use the weight of the razor and NO PRESSURE and don't rush. I can't fault this in any way, it is a top not have safety razor. Highly recommended.

DE oblique cut machine with the proper technique of using an oblique cut gives what can not give probably no razor - softness, despite the tremendous aggressiveness comparable with little dubovatym Muhle R41, soft shaving better than mouth-watering Muhle R89. Here's a paradox Slant Bar!

Amazing piece of kit. All DE users should have this in their shaving kit. Gives a beautifully smooth shave, easy to do under the nose. And for the price it's a bargain.

Fantastic razor, but box should have 'DONOT APPLY PRESSURE' in bold. I would class myself as a fairly experienced traditional shaver with a decent technique, however using this razor indicated how sloppy that technique has became. Persevere with this razor and go easy on the pressure and you will be rewarded with a good razor burn free shave. I would also strongly recommend using very sharp blades with this razor.

Good razor, needs taming - the key seems to be to align the blade looking from the top cap down. Works best with a sharp but forgiving blade for me - e.g. super iridium, gillette silver blue, personna lab blue, NOT wilkinson sword.

Fantastic razor, super close shave at a bargain price. Not for the beginner though.

Shave - a ridiculously close shave to the point where it is shaving off the very fine top layer of my skin. I cannot use it daily because of this and have to alternate with the EJ de89 which is easier on the skin. If I apply any less pressure on the slant it won't be touching my face at all. Despite it being a big harsh on my skin, it does give me a wonderful shave. I have very thick hair and very sensitive skin.

Aesthetics - does not stand up to the beauty of the Edwin jagger de89 in that the finishing looks a bit rough when compared to the EJ. The bar on the slant is hollow so it collects water when I am washing it and it pours out unexpectedly when I have just finished drying it - I then have to dry it again!

General - if you have soft and sensitive skin and thick hair which grow in all directions I do) - then this razor will leave your skin feeling tender regardless of how good your shaving technique is. Eventually it is your skin that needs to get used the razor.

I've been putting off trying a slant, but I'm very happy I finally got one. It's a very effective razor and shaves really close, but does not feel anywhere near as aggressive on the skin as I had expected. Very quick delivery too.

This razor is giving me the most enjoyable shave I ve had in over 40 years of shaving.

I migrated to the Merkur slant after a couple of months of DE shaving with a DE89 - this is a much more direct shave, you can feel the blade much more so can be assured you re making good contact with your skin. Some have commented on how aggressive this is, but with a solid technique this razor is excellent if you re shaving every other day. I pair up with Astras and boy, is it close. You can enjoy taking your time with this razor.

This demands respect and care. Unforgiving of speed, and incorrect angle*** it does however deliver a fantastically close shave if you care to spend the time to get used to it.

this razor gives a nice clsoe shave when combined with feather blades. I haven t cut myself with it yet but perhaps that is due to me starting out with a standard safety razor first. This razor is well worth consideration as a purchase.

Very nice razor. Makes my previous Gillette Fusion look horrible. Still getting used to using the razor though, gave myself quite a few cuts during the first week, but seem to be getting the correct technique now. One thing to remember if you do buy this razor - treat it with respect or it will cut your face off :)

Very sharp! I ve never used a DE safety razor before this was my first one. Incredible shave, very comfortable but remember no pressure on the razor or you ll cut yourself like I did!
