I've had this razor for over a year now and its been nothing but a pleasure however, tonight it slipped off the side of the sink into the sink and the head has snapped off at the threaded screw part, not something I expected from what is supposed to be good craftmanship and a razor which should last a lifetime. i can't be the first person to drop a razor in the sink.

Amazing product and super fast delivery. Have been using shavette for about 9 months with varying results so decided to try safety razor, after a lot of research I decided to purchase this edwin jagger and was not disappointed. Razor extremely easy to use and smooth shave with no razor burns and shave took half the time of shaving with shavette. Would highly recommend this razor and this site. Five Stars.

When the razor arrived, the box it in was damaged so that was disappointing and set my expectations. The razor handle is smaller that anticipated but that is personal preference. The Derby blades that come with the razor are not very sharp and looking to try out the Feather brand to see they are any sharper. Overall, the shaving experience has been disappointing.

Should have bought one of these years ago... fantastic shave with the blades provided (I have fairly heavy growth) am still ripping myself on one side of the neck but this is obviously down to learning curve on my part (not the product) as the rest of my chops is like a baby's bum!... have already enthusiastically recommended to my friends!

First time ever using a safety razor. I have been wet shaving for the best part of 20 years. This is a revelation compared to standard razors, brilliant shave every time. I can't believe, I have only just discovered this way of shaving, after 25 years of shaving with what I now realise, are completely over priced rubbish mainstream razors. This truly is the best shave I have ever had, it is so easy to shave with, and I get no skin rash or burn, like I used to with normal razors. I have thick black Mediterranean stubble, and even after a weeks growth I can still shave it off with ease. The best money I have ever spent on a razor, spread the word, stop buying over priced, over hyped poop!

Beautifull razor. Well finished,looks quality is quality! found wilkinson sword blades with a pre shave oil and cream a lot smoother shave, drastically reduced my shave rash. I am a newcomer to DE shaving so still learning. really like this razor though, would recommend it for anyone interested in a well made, good looking DE safety razor.

My initial order choice of razor the Muhle R89 was out of stock so after few emails from TSC the EJ89L was agreed on and glad of it too. Nice solid, good value and well made DE razor and glad got the lined version, as the handle can be quite slippery when wet. Watched a few youtube videos re; shaving with the EJ89L and am very happy with my new razor and shaving technique. Currently using some Astra superior blades I had previously and shaves really well with minimal cuts. Thanks for the Derby blades and fudge inc in the nice packaging!!

A great razor. It took some getting used to after my cartridge razor, but I actually got a decent shave in the first try. Part of that was probably watching YouTube videos so I wouldn't slice open my face, but this razor gave a perfect performance.

I was worried that going from a twin blade disposable to a single edge razor would be a backward step ( I am trying to reduce my plastic consumption) - I needn't have worried at all! A good shaving experience! Likey!

This was my first DE razor purchase, having been completely frustrated with the greed of cartridge producers and I have been amazed. Delivery by Traditional Shaving was excellent and the razor really is a thing of beauty. The chrome is very high quality and with a quick wipe following each shave, it retains its attractive sheen. The Derby blades which came with the razor were not aggressive enough for my beard but a quick trip to the local chemist for some Wilkinson blades (£1 for 5!) and I've started to have some great success. The shaving process is different as the good advice on this and other websites explain. A three pass shave is BETTER and closer with the Edwin Jagger than with a cartridge blade. I made a terrible mistake on the first shave in trying to get through in one pass by pressing hard and had some carnage to deal with, but a You Tube video later and I was away. It does require more care than with a cartridge but I am really enjoying spending my money on quality shaving brushes, bowls and stands rather than handing over £25 every three months to Gillette! The Edwin jagger is simple, no adjustments to do, and has three parts to it, which are easy to clean and keep. It has to be one of the best DE razors on the market.

This is my first 'proper' razor, and after a little research ordered the DE89L. I've used it for 2-weeks now and absolutely love it. I find the weight and handle length perfect. If you're buying your first razor, and have any doubts which to go for, I'd highly recommend this razor.

Yet another 5 star review for the DE89L! This razor has excellent build quality and is a thing of beauty. I bought mine with some Personna Platinum blades together they yielded the closest shave I have had to date, very smooth no niks, no rash or burn.

You absolutley can not go wrong by buying one of these fine razors.

Purchased this as part of the starter set and i love it. Weight is brilliant and the razor glides over the skin. Took me 3 shaves to get used to the angle shift from my Gillette Fusion Power but now im used to it I wont be going back. The razor also looks lovely standing in the Egwin Jagger shaving bowl with the badger brush along side. Excellent service and price for my first venture into DE shaving.

I am forever seeking the perfect shave and have been using a Merkur (aggressive) and a Muhle (very smooth and comfortable), both being around 80% more expensive than the DE89L. I purchased the EJ purely on the strength of very positive reviews and have not been disappointed. The chrome is as good as I have seen and the razor has given a close and very comfortable shave with my normal three passes. My initial impression that the mirror-smooth barrel might not offer a secure grip with wet hands turned out not to be the case. So, a quality of construction and shaving performance the equal of my Muhle but at much less cost. How can it be done for such a phenomenally low price? Very highly recommended.

I have a Merkur 34 plus a Muhle, both costing around 80% more than the DE89L. After a few shaves with the DE89 I had to wonder how the German products were so comparatively expensive compared to the beautifully chromed Jagger! My shaving experience is that the DE89 has all the smooth comfort of my Muhle (and much more comfort than my aggressive Merkur). The highly chromed barrel did not slip in my hand and the whole process of shaving was very pleasant. How do they do it for the money? I have no idea but am glad they did. Almost forgot - the razor was supplied with 5 Derby blades!

New to DE and bought this after a lot of research. It was a toss up with a Merkur, this won out and I've no regrets.
Lovely bit of kit, nicely finished and shiny.
Shaves well too. Couple of nicks when I forget I don't need to press and drag like my old twinblade but I'm enjoying the whole brush and lather bit so a bit of blood is no problem.
Excellent service from the seller as well. The toffees were a nice touch.

Delivery was prompt I have a Merkur Solingen which needed replacing and decided to purchase this product, I am very pleased with the Razor weight is good long handle and the shave is smooth.

Great wee razor. Am still fine tuning my technique but 10 shaves in and already far less irritation than cartridge razor. Very forgiving. Has good weight, looks great and now I enjoy my shave rather than tolerating it! Emotions aside appears very well made, beautifully chromed , has good weight is so smooth that I sometimes have to check that it has " worked" I have heavy growth. Buy this if you are a novice.

Purchased this after reading reviews of various razors, the deciding factor being that it was made in England!
Very quick delivery and well packed (including the mints)
My first impressions were of a well made razor, 'feeling' right as I held it and the quality is obvious when you look at it.
It is many years since I last used a DE razor, but remembered the old tip of 'stropping' the blade on my hand before use.
I can't think why I ever fell for the marketing ploy of selling expensive, multi-bladed razor blades in the first place, I certainly won't be going back to them - and I get a choice of blade manufacturer.

As a beginner with safety razors, I didn't know what to expect. First impressions are brilliant - little irritation, better shave and overall nice experience compared to multi-blade cartridge razors that I used previously.

This is my first DE razor and I spent a fair amount of time researching the Mekhur brand too. I decided to go for the 89L as it had a slightly longer handle. Since using it I'm really please with my choice. The finish on the razor is beautiful and the chroming is a very good quality. It has a really nice weight to it also and feels comfortable in the hand. I adapted to the razor very quickly and will not go back to the disposable types. Think seriously about buying this razor.

After watching everything that geofatboy had posted on YouTube I decided to give a DE shaving a go. I started off with the cheap plastic Wilkinson Sword razor from Boots just in case I didn't get on with it and waste money. I got on fine with this and after a few weeks I decided to purchase the DE89L.

It is a lovely looking razor and it is a really nice weight. It shaves beautifully and I have yet to cut myself. I had intended to purchase the Traditional Shaving Company Chrome Razor And Shaving Brush Stand as it looks like it would accompany the DE89L perfectly but it has been out of stock for ages. Fingers crossed it will come back in stock.

This is my first serious DE bladed razor, having previously dabbled off and on with a Wilkinson Classic and Wilkinson blades, and it is a different animal all together. It is immediately noticeable that the DE89 presents far more blade to the skin than the Classic and so cuts much closer. Shaves are very satisfying and it is much easier to get a truly close shave with this razor yet I have not managed to cut myself yet.
The finish and overall quality is very good and in the hand it feels solid and well balanced; I fully expect to be shaving with this razor for years to come. In short I cannot recommend this razor enough and I'm very glad I bought it. If you are new to the world of the DE bladed razor or want to move up from a basic model like I did this is the razor for you. Conversely I feel confident that most experienced users would also enjoy owning this razor.

A wonderful piece of shaving kit.

The Edwin Jagger DE 89L is a fantastic razor, a nice weight & handle length, well made and a lovely chrome finish. Armed with plenty of advice on preparation & how to shave from the Internet It has turned shaving from something I did when I had to into a pleasure. My wife has noticed how much smoother my face feel and now my youngest son, who is a teenager, wants to convert to DE shaving.

I already have Merkur HD. I bought this EJ DE89L for my father. It definately looks much better than Merkur. The quality of chrome finish adds an elegant look. The shave is as good as Merkur. I reccomend it to anyone who is between M HD and EJ DE89

A tad too bulky, making it difficult to access the more hard to reach areas like between upper lip and nose. Lined handle is easy to grip when wet.

Beautifully weighted handle

The first safety razor I ve used but I ve found it easy to get to grips with. Easy to load and looks gorgeous. Best shave I ve ever had.

I had a Merkur 33C which was OK but I didn’t get on with the handle - I was used to something a little longer. The Edwin Jagger 89L fit’s the bill nicely. It’s shave is probably not quite as aggressive as the Merkur but none the less gives an excellent shave in about 2 passes plus maybe an extra pass over the chin. The finish on it is a very deep chrome that should last extremely well (I’m told it’s triple coated) - I would certainly rate it above the finish on the Merkur. The very shiny splined handle looks like it could slip with soapy hands, but this isn’t the case and it offers excellent grip. A very recommended buy.

This is a terrific razor, hard to find better for the money.

Robust, easy to use and clean, and does what it says on the tin! Have knocked of a star for lack of a convenient plastic holder (perhaps slipping the blades in a clip at the bottom?). Otherwise OK.
