Excellent razor and great service

This is an excellent razor that gives a close comfortable shave when used with Astra blades. It takes a little longer than a quick whip round with the likes of a Mach 3, but the shave and the whole experience is so much better. It's a hell of a lot cheaper too.

The screw on the head plate sheared off after about a year of use, but a new head plate was supplied free of charge and without fuss - great service.

This is my first entry into DE Shaving and found this razor a pleasure to use, nicely weighted but does need to be combined with the best blade for your own personal face. The Derby blades were very "average" but were OK for practicing the technique in an inconspicuous area. For myself, the Astra Platinum have been the best blades for it with Feather blades due for delivery this week. Must say the Wilkinson Sword blades gave me my worst razor burn in years and that was with a single pass. May well get a second with a longer handle so I can have one in the travel bag and the other for "everyday".

After deciding to return to a safety razor after several years of multi blade shaving this is a great razor at a very reasonable price. I bought it as a package with Lemon Lime Shaving Creme and a brush and the difference is tremendous. The only drawback is having to get up 15 minutes earlier in the morning so that I can take my time over it.

Bought to replace two year old Muhle R89 on which the thread wore out.
First class service from traditionalshaving.co.uk; ordered for FOC delivery and received two days later, well packaged with some fudge in the carton. Five Derby blades were included which I'll keep for shaving the back of my neck - they won't be going near my face/beard!
Looks and feels like a great razor; great polished finish which looks like it'll last.

At £22 I found that the Edwin Jagger DE89 was a great starter for me or anyone else looking for a cheap quality razor. Combined with a Feather blade I am very pleased with the results. I will definitely use the Traditional Shaving Company again when I come to upgrade my razor in the future.

My first DE razor. I was incredibly impressed with how solidly built this thing is, and the super shiny finish on this razor is absolutely georgous, however this being said my first shave left alot to be desired, there seemed to be alot of tugging and the shave wasn't as close as I had liked it to be. I swapped out the included derby blades for Feather ones and saw a phenomenal improvement in my shave. I could never get a better shave with my previous Gillette Fusion.

Well, when you open the box you will be taken back by how well made and chromed this fine 3 piece razor is, and it only cost you £20ish pounds!
Use it with a good blade and you are in for a really, really smooth shave.
I don't like the Derby blades that come with it, they are too dull for me, use this with a sharp blade like a Feather and it glides across your face, not to mild and not too aggressive even with a Feather blade.
I have coarse stubble and it whizzed through a 3 day growth with no pulling at all, first pass was almost parade standard!
I am so happy with mine that I have bought another one for my brothers birthday present, you could spend more on a Feather or an Ikon razor.......but when Edwin Jagger is this good, why?

Bought as christmas present for boyfriend. Feels high quality and looks great. Comes with 5 blades. Would definitely recommend. Im positive he will love it.

Had a Parker. Mechanism "sprung" and try as I might I could not fix it. After much deliberation, opted for this. Wish I'd gone for it in the first place! Far superior shave and much easier to maintain. Great product, no hesitation in recommending this.

Once I got used to the weight of the razor I have been very happy with it's performance.

A newbie to DE shaving so after alot of research i opted for this.Must admit i was very scared about the whole DE shaving and cutting my throat off but this razor fits the bill.It looks more expensive than it is and although i have nothing to compare it with,at the moment it just feels sort of right,if you know what i mean.

Good shave but disappointing quality - the handle and razor heads wore quickly making it impossible to tighten the head to the handle. Only option being to buy another razor.

Bought this a week ago and within 1-2 days it was as easy to use as cartridges. Still have to take your time but you get the same if not better results. And at a fraction of the cost of cartridges. Fast and efficient delivery. Excellent service from The Traditional Shaving Company.

Many years ago I started shaving using a DE razor but over time moved over to the cartridge etc. type razors. Now back to using DE and find the shave to be far superior. Must admit I find the price of the razors to be rather expensive but TS has the best prices I have found and the service is first class.

Great product and excellent customer service.

A quality product. I have always wet shaved and decided to return to DE shaving with the ridiculous cost of cartridge blades. I get the feeling that the multiple blade syndrome has gone beyond true technical improvements and is now nothing more than just money-making. The DE89 shaves very well as far as I am concerned. Every make of razor has its own design characteristics and you adapt accordingly. Choice of razor is a personal preference and a "good" razor for me is down to its manufacture quality and aesthetics. The DE89 is such a quality product as is the supplier. Excellent service and product range at prices even more competitive than eBay!

My first DE razor. Excellent product. Used with Derby blades - gives a great shave. As already mentioned in other reviews, good weight and quality finish. One thing to consider is that the smooth chrome handle takes a little getting used.

This is my second razor of this type. It is intended to go in my travel kit. Quality and VFM are both excellent.

1st time using this or any DE razor, easy to use, a much better shave. I like the pomp and circumstance of the shaving, the sandal wood, the brush, the bowl and this razor is the icing on the cake, No nicks, cuts just smooth and I even shave my head with the DE89. Used now 5 times, and just gets better....chrome awesomeness.

Bought this as part of the starter kit and have been very pleased. Can't give too much feedback as this is my first safety razor, but so far I'm loving the DE89. When my razor first arrived I was slightly hesitant at the amount of blade on show, but after two weeks shaving I've only had 2 tiny nicks. I can get a lovely smooth shave despite my inexperience and find the weight and size to be absolutely fine. I look forward to many more years of happy shaving!

DE 89 is the business Turns a daily chore into HIGHLY ENJOYABLE GROOMING EVENT. Results are fantastic! Very Close comfortable shave. Hardly any nicks or cuts.Trying out differnt blades now.The ones supplied are a very good starting point but worth trying others RIP Disposables

Manufacturing quality is excellent, the size is very convenient, cut yourself while shaving impossible, shave excellent in two - three passes, I recommend to those people who have roughness on the face, sensitive skin . Ideal for beginners and users 2-3 times a week. BBS guaranteed =))

Getting used to it - a fine looking product, for sure. Not sure about the length and maybe would have liked a slightly longer one but, as said, I'm getting used to it.

The Edwin Jagger de89l. Well i shave with a shavette as a rule and i'm currently awaiting my dovo black star as a birthday gift.
Now i gave a shavette razor to my son and because of this his been nicking my shaving bush so i brought myself a new one, a Edwin Jagger and i was blown away with it.. So i just wondered if they made a straight razor, no?. But in looking into this i came across Edwin Jagger's safety razors not real my thing but the reviews are 5 star every were so i got my self this bad boy as a treat hahaha,
Let me tell you its unreal , the quality the save the whole deal i really cant say how good it is. £23 i think i payed in total and its like i received a £60 razor , now i did a three pass shave and dam i have never had such babe soft skin even the wife agrees this time and wants to use it.
Please try it guys n girls even just don't take mine well i may get myself anther just to keep it away form light fingered women with hairy legs and arms Pitts..

Bought this as I wanted a travel razor to put in my washbag . Not as good as my Merkur but a lkot better than the average disposable. Well made, feels solid and reliable, does the job but isn't adjustable - but then I knew it wasn't before I bought it. Depends on your expectations and budget, for an extra £15 or so you'll get something special, for what you pay for you'll get something better than the majority. No compliaints overall.

Fantastic razor, the shave is great and the finish on product is superb, the chroming is faultless. A great price too. I would definitely recommend to anyone who is starting out and considering this razor.

Lovely razor, I would recommend this razor to anyone, it is so smooth when shaving, it doesn't cut you in anyway, like other razors, extremely pleased.

A fantastic razor, this is the first traditional razor I have ever owned and it by far superior to the cartridge razors. It cuts smoothly and has a nice weight to it and looks great. Just needs a little polish every now and then to keep it looking like new.

It took me awhile to learn how to use in order to get the best shave but it is worth it. By buying razor blades separately on amazon I get 100 blades for a great price.

Nice shape, good quality. Shaving not as clean as with a straight razor but otherwise a must in a travel bag.

Great product ! Once mastered, and with good blades - Gillette Extra Blue or Feather -, it gives a perfect shave. I also really like the design : elegant and "old schlool". A few weeks after me my father bought one too !

My first introduction to shaving with a safety razor - very impressed, lovely product.

Very smart, immaculate chrome finish, perfect size. First time using a safety razor and not a single nick, just smooth and easy from the start using wilkinson sword blades. Wouldn t go back to obscenely overpriced and inferior cartridges even if they gave them away.

The Edwin Jagger D89 is rightfully a classic DE razor. It is beautifully made and a joy to use. If I have any complaint at all it is that the head could be slightly wider so that the blades don t protrude from the sides, but that is such a small criticism of this superb piece of Sheffield engineering.

This is my first DE razor. The shave is better definitely more enjoyable than with cartridge razors, although in the beginning, I needed to do one more pass over my Mach3. The only downside is changing the blades, you have to take the whole thing apart. But otherwise, highly recommended!

My first DE safety razor. Seriously, if you re still using plastic razors, make the switch. Reassuredly hefty, but light enough not to tire. Quality. I used to suffer from dry skin a few days after a shave. After using this razor, it doesn t happen any more. Even the missus has commented on how good a shave I m getting. 4 stars as I haven t tried other DE safeties yet.
