Great razor
With its reputation I took my first shave with it very carefully. However within a few strokes I felt vey confident. It gives a very smooth and close shave. The razor itself is beautifully made and I really like the weight and balance the long handle gives.
Great razor
It's a little heavier than other Merkur razors, but the difference isn't huge. Shave is really, really good - it was OK with the included Merkur blade, and pretty amazing once I switched to my usual Astra blade. Like any DE razor you need a little practice to get used to it, but for most people this won't be a big problem. Would strongly recommend.
lovely piece of kit
look on the internet and you'd be forgiven for thinking this thing is one step down from a cut throat and needs two hands to lift. It really isn't and really doesn't. I can only say that it has caused me fewer nicks and gets closer to the awkward areas than my so called "mild" razors and I'm pretty sure I'm not doing anything differently, despite the scare stories. It does gives me no razor burn, is nicely weighted and is no heavier than my Parker Variant, with my only small niggle being that the knob at the bottom is extremely smooth and impossible to turn with wet/soapy fingers. Definitely recommended and, to me, needs no more care than a standard safety razor

Having heard the scare stories about this razor all I can say is they are nonsense. A good shave from the start .On the second shave I used a Supermax super stainless blade WITH Green Proraso pre cream and shaving cream.I had the best shave ever.I have been using an Edwin Jagger for two years.This razor is a quality piece of kit.The service was to this companys usual very high standard, packaging was top quality ,delivery surprisingly speedy.I certainly recommend this product and this company.

On my third shave with this razor, I was a bit nervous first time, but what a great razor very comfortable and no nicks os razor burn. It is great for me and would recommend it to anyone not as scary as people say. Enjoy
I purchased the 39c a couple of weeks ago and I have to say I was a little disappointed considering its reputation. However, after trying a Astra blade and red prorasso cream I can truly say the razor came to life and produced an amazingly close shave which lasts.
I'm really impressed with the razor and would recommend it to anybody looking to upgrade to a more efficient razor. Equally impressive is the service from the Tradiional Shaving Company.

Simply the best razor ever! After shaving with an Edwin Jagger DE89 for almost a year, I felt that I had the skills to try a more aggressive razor and opted for the 39C. Despite the fact that this razor cuts much more efficiently than the Edwin Jagger, my shaves are BBS with no nicks or cuts. I would recommend that it is used with a good quality, slick cream or soap such as Taylor of Old Bond Street or Mitchell's Wool Fat.
After shaving with an Edwin Jagger DE89 for about 9 months, I felt that I wanted to take things to the next level. Despite the hype from some people on various shaving forums, I would say that this razor provides an extremely close shave in a drama free manner. It is definitely not the the beast that many make it out to be. Used with a good cream/soap, the 39C gives me less irritation and cuts than milder razors. Furthermore, as a cold water shaver, I find that the cutting angle slices through stubble more easily than other razors.
The 39C is a totally different experience. The finish, grip, the design and, of course, the slant head. Weird, but that's why I bought it.
I've got zero complaints about the finish and construction. It's gorgeous.
This is a very nice razor longer handle gives good control nice chrome on handle the knurled handle gives good grip with wet hands.The barber pole design looks very stylish.this razor will give a very close shave in 2 passes with a good blade ie the feather .A good shaving technique is required as this razor can bite but overall a superb close shave highly recommended. my beast just arrived today and topped a lab blue razor blade. wow. this thing slices hair like nothing. Had 4days growth and after 3 passes completly bbs all over. highly recomended for tough hair and not for beginners. :)

I purchased the Slant Barber Pole 39C to replace my HD 34C as its handle was far too short for me, and was uncomfortable to use. Was going to replace it with the longer handled Barber Pole version, but changed my mind at the last minute having read some good reviews of the Slant. I have to say the Slant is the perfect razor for me, the length and weight are ideal, and the slanted head allows me to hold the razor agains my face in a way that is much more comfortable for my hand. Perfect!
