I bought this razor to replace my Merkur Vision 2000 which had gone out of alignment after three years of use. The 89R is about a third of the price of the Vision so I cannot really expect its performance to be as good. That said I am disappointed with my 89R shave which even after four passes still leaves my face with a feeling of stubble. I am using my usual Feather blades but have also tried Derby. This razor for me is good enough for a tidy up shave before leaving the house if going nowhere of particular importance.
