How To Wet Shave
Wet shaving can seem a daunting change to men who have never tried it before but luckily it can be split into four simple tasks.
Firstly you must prepare your face for the shave. This means softening the beard to allow the blade to slice through. It also means warming the face and skin to release its grip on the hair. Preparation can be as simple or complex as you want to make it but the most important thing is that you do something.

Secondly you must lather your face with a good quality shaving soap or shaving cream. Applying the lather with a badger brush or boar brush lifts the beard and surrounds every hair with a covering of lubricating lather giving a smoother and more protected shave.

Thirdly you remove the beard using a sharp blade. The lather means the blade will glide across the skin without pulling or tugging at the hair and without irritating the skin. When using a double edge razor or a straight razor you need to use a very light touch and keep the blade at the optimum angle to the skin.

Finally you need to care for your skin. Shaving can leave your skin exposed and a post shave treatment is essential to keep your skin moisturised and looking healthy.

Finally and most importantly you need to be patient. It can take weeks or even months to master the art of wet shaving but when you get there you will know it has been worth it.
