Truefitt and Hill

Truefitt and Hill are known as one of the leading men's barber shops in the world. The range of shaving products produced by Truefitt and Hill is unique with each having a decidedly masculine scent. Signature scents including Trafalgar, Grafton, 1805 and West Indian Limes sit alongside traditional scents of Almond, Lavender, Rose and Sandalwood. Truefitt & Hill products include shaving cream, shaving soap, aftershave balms, aftershaves and colognes.

Truefitt & Hill originated in 1805 when William Francis Truefitt opened his first Gentlemen's Barber Shop at 2 Cross-Lane, Long Acre London. By 1811 he had moved the business to 40 Old Bond Street where he established himself as 'Court Hair Cutter' and 'Court Head Dresser'. Throughout the 19th century Truefitt's business flourished at a time when regular visits to the barber were essential to the wearing of wigs and soon became Wigmaker, by Royal Appointment to his Majesty, King George III.

In 1911 Edwin Hill & Co set up a barber shop at 23 Old Bond Street. In 1935 H.P. Truefitt moved in with Edwin Hill to form Truefitt & Hill, the company still existing today. By 1941 the other regional Truefitt outlets had merged into the present company. In 1994 Truefitt & Hill moved to their current location of 71 St James Street, London.
